About The Position

TEL Staffing is seeking a Welder to join our team in Fairhope, AL. The purpose of this position is to prepare and repair various components using standard welding principles and in accordance with applicable maintenance manuals. This role involves welding repair components in accordance with overhaul manuals using various welding methods, operating associated equipment, reviewing travelers and welding prints, and repairing/restoring parts. The position also requires retrieving and moving gas cylinders, traveling as required, conferring with management on process improvements, attending safety training, and working scheduled hours including overtime as needed. Safety procedures and the use of PPE are paramount.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years of welding experience or completion of an accredited two-year welder’s training program and two years of welding experience required
Proficient using a variety of hand tools such as hand grinders, die grinders for assigned maintenance tasks
Knowledgeable in welding techniques, (oxygen-acetylene, electric arc, and TIG), tools and equipment
Skills in the fabrication, joining and repair of a variety of metal objects, equipment, fixtures and structures
Proficient in using a variety of hand tools, special tools, and GSE required to perform assigned maintenance tasks
Able to work in a relatively loud environment
Able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among co-workers and supervisors
Able to work with little or no supervision and to take initiative
Able to use applied knowledge to formulate positive solutions to problem situations
Able to apply common sense
Able to effectively read, write and communicate in English
Proficient in company specific software and Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using fractions and decimals; compute percentages, area, circumference, volume, ratios, rates and interpret graphs
Able to comply with OSHA requirements and standards to properly wear all applicable PPE
Knowledge of precision measuring tools/equipment (and electrical)
Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and more, with assistance occasionally
Able to see within normal range of vision with or without corrective lenses
Able to hear running machinery
Able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively
Exceptional eye-hand coordination
Regularly able to reach overhead
Regularly able to squat, bend, twist and stand
Able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally
Ability to provide verifications of US citizenship or permanent residency to satisfy ITAR/EAR restrictions
Certified Welder in accordance with AWSD17 or equivalent in various alloy used at Segers Aero Corporation.
Must pass a criminal background check
Must pass a DOT FAA pre-employment drug screen and comply with all FAA regulations.

Responsibilities

Weld Repair components in accordance with overhaul manual using a variety of welding methods including TIG, MIG, Stick, Braze Rod, Spot Weld, Silver Soldier.
Operates drill press, grit blast machine, ovens and other associated equipment in the support of the production schedule
Uses oven to heat-treat parts regularly
Reviews traveler and reads welding prints for direction
Repair and/or restore parts using welding equipment/torches
Retrieves and moves gas cylinders from holding area using a dolly as necessary
Travels as required
Confers with manager/lead to recommend changes such as: equipment utilization, production methods and procedures to increase efficiency of department and promote improvement
Attends all safety and health training, as required, in a timely manner
Works when scheduled and complies with company attendance policy
Works overtime as needed
Observes and practices all safety procedures and personal policies (e.g. Safety-glasses, ear plugs, face shields etc.)
