About The Position

Kreider Farms is a third-generation family-owned agri-business dairy farm and food manufacturer seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator. This role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing operational capabilities, involving tasks from stainless TIG welding in the food processing plant to rebuilding manure scrapers in the dairy barns. The ideal candidate will possess MIG, TIG, and STICK welding skills, along with sheet metal fabrication experience, and a strong mechanical knowledge base. The ability to work independently and collaboratively is essential.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in MIG and STICK welding; TIG welding skills are considered a bonus.
  • Strong sheet metal fab skills (press brake).
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on fabrication experience.
  • Familiarity with shop tools and equipment, such as torch cutting and plasma cutting capabilities.
  • Independent worker with the ability to also function in a team environment.
  • A solid understanding of general fabrication processes including the operation of Metal Press Brakes, CNC plasma cutters, lathes, and vertical mills is highly advantageous.

  • General knowledge of farm equipment.
  • Experience in metal fabrication and welding in an agricultural or manufacturing environment.
  • Sanitary welding certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality welding using MIG, TIG, and STICK methods on various materials, including stainless steel.
  • Rebuild and repair manure scrapers and other equipment critical to our dairy operations.
  • Lead/Assist in rigging and moving heavy equipment safely and precisely.
  • Fabricate parts for repairs and innovative designs utilizing equipment such as CNC plasma cutters, hydraulic sheet metal presses, slip rolls, lathes, and mills.
  • Collaborate closely with our in-house engineer to understand project specifications and ensure outputs meet operational standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all safety protocols while operating shop equipment.
  • Respond to emergency repairs with a proactive attitude and willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
