About The Position
Schlouch Incorporated is a leading site preparation company specializing in excavation, grading, water utility installation, paving, and concrete curb. We have an immediate opening for a skilled Intermediate Welder/Fabricator to join our Fleet Maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a welder who enjoys hands-on work, solving equipment challenges, and working on a wide variety of heavy construction equipment and attachments. If you have experience with MIG, stick, and flame welding, metal fabrication, and equipment repair, and you take pride in quality workmanship and safety, we want to hear from you.
Requirements
- Experience in welding and metal fabrication
- Ability to perform MIG and stick welding in flat and vertical positions
- Working knowledge of metallurgy and maintenance welding practices
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, torches, grinders, and fabrication equipment
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card
Nice To Haves
- Experience working on heavy construction equipment
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems and equipment maintenance
- Understanding of rigging procedures, forklifts, and cranes
- Experience with aluminum welding and line boring
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and construction safety practices
- PA State Inspection License (or willingness to obtain)
Responsibilities
- Perform welding repairs and fabrication on heavy equipment, attachments, and components
- Diagnose and repair minor mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and technical issues
- Fabricate and repair steel and other metals used in construction equipment such as buckets, stone boxes and trench boxes
- Use MIG, stick, and flame welding techniques in various positions
- Operate oxygen-acetylene cutting equipment, grinders, cut-off saws, and other fabrication tools
- Inspect equipment for wear, fatigue, cracked welds, hydraulic issues, hoses, belts, tires, and other maintenance concerns
- Read work orders, service manuals, parts manuals, and equipment documentation
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Communicate repair progress and completed work with the Fleet Foreperson
- Participate in daily safety meetings and follow all company safety procedures
