About The Position

The Welder Assistant performs a variety of duties to assist the Welder under the supervision and direction of the Maintenance Supervisor. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Employees are occasionally sent to help in departments other than the home department when the situation necessitates doing so. Requirements

• Must be able to stand between 2 – 3 hours at a time.
• Must be willing to follow all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) of the company which include but are not limited to: use of a hair net, use of a company approved frock, no jewelry, no nail polish or artificial nails, no shorts, no open-toed shoes, no ripped clothing or rhinestones/glitter on clothing, no chewing gum, candy or tobacco.
• The employee must often lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
• The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent use/motion of hands, wrists and arms are required
• The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or bend.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of tools to clean and cut metals (i.e. grinder, chop saw)
• Uses additional equipment to cut and heat metals (i.e. oxygen/acetylene torch, plasma cutter)
• Keeps the work area clean and organized
• Must be able to stand between 2 – 3 hours at a time.
