Maintenance Trainee-Sadlers
About The Position
The Welder Assistant performs a variety of duties to assist the Welder under the supervision and direction of the Maintenance Supervisor. This role involves operating various tools and equipment for metal cleaning and cutting, maintaining a clean work area, and adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The position is full-time, requiring 40+ hours per week, with common 10-12 hour work days and frequent weekend and overtime hours. The work environment involves exposure to varying temperatures and potentially congested areas, requiring caution when operating equipment in tight spaces. The job also requires the ability to lift and move significant weight and frequent use of hands, wrists, and arms, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending.
Requirements
- Must be able to stand between 2 – 3 hours at a time.
- Must be willing to follow all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) of the company which include but are not limited to: use of a hair net, use of a company approved frock, no jewelry, no nail polish or artificial nails, no shorts, no open-toed shoes, no ripped clothing or rhinestones/glitter on clothing, no chewing gum, candy or tobacco.
- Often lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent use/motion of hands, wrists and arms are required
- Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or bend.
Responsibilities
- Operates a variety of tools to clean and cut metals (i.e. grinder, chop saw)
- Uses additional equipment to cut and heat metals (i.e. oxygen/acetylene torch, plasma cutter)
- Keeps the work area clean and organized
- Must be able to stand between 2 – 3 hours at a time.
