About The Position

A Welder/Weld Trainee provides welding support as part of a team working on standard and/or special assembled service bodies, as well as small parts. The role involves welding structural aluminum and galvanized steel components according to blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions, and completing related production and quality tasks.

Requirements

• Ability to pass tape measure testing.
• Ability to read blueprints, if applicable to the line.

Responsibilities

• Weld structural aluminum and galvanized steel components according to blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts to achieve the required configuration and position for welding.
• Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.
• Perform inline quality inspections and maintain weld quality according to established guidelines.
• Complete welding station tasks in accordance with established takt time, if applicable.
• Cross-train on multiple welding workstations and perform tasks at multiple stations as needed to fill staffing gaps.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools, including welding equipment.
