About The Position

Meyer Utility Structures is seeking a Production Supervisor for its Gadsden, Alabama plant. The supervisor oversees multiple production activities and takes ownership of the output of employees on the team. The role requires a strong working knowledge of machinery, equipment, and processes, and responsibility for managing departments to achieve plant goals while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and productivity. The supervisor manages fit-up and welding processes for assigned work groups and production bays.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of successful leadership experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
• High degree of dependability, maturity, and strong leadership characteristics demonstrated through previous professional work experience.
• Regular and predictable attendance, a great attitude, and the ability to work well with a team toward a common goal.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, any discipline.
• Experience in a metal fabrication or welding facility, particularly with flux-core and metal-core welding.
• Thorough knowledge of blueprints and layouts, preferably related to transmission poles.

Responsibilities

• Ensure employees follow safety procedures and protocols, serve on safety committees, and complete regular safety audits.
• Manage daily production operations for heavy industrial products in the assigned work group.
• Set production schedules based on production introduction, equipment efficiency, and quality metrics.
• Coach employees on work quality and quantity, including fit-up and welding processes; ensure goals are met and resolve issues as they arise.
• Ensure sufficient quantities of quality products are produced at or below budgeted production cost.
• Assist with continuous improvement activities to improve material movement through production processes.
• Manage hourly employees and monitor and approve timesheets and work logs.
• Assign employees to workstations and ensure proper training is completed.
• Manage fit-up and welding processes for assigned work groups and production bays, ensuring employees follow production policies and procedures.
