A Weld Trainee provides welding support as part of a team working on standard and/or special assembled service bodies, as well as small parts. The trainee receives instruction in multiple departments to learn how the plant operates and build skills for potential growth into a General Welder. The training period may vary from 3 to 6 months, depending on training-program availability. The role involves welding structural aluminum and galvanized-steel components according to blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions, and completing related fitting, positioning, and quality-inspection tasks. Trainees cross-train on multiple welding workstations and may work at different stations to fill staffing gaps.
