About The Position

The Weld Trainee provides welding support as part of a team assembling standard and/or special service bodies and small parts. The role involves welding aluminum and galvanized steel structural components according to blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions, and completing work in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. The position is based in Reading, Pennsylvania, and is listed for the first shift.

Requirements

• Ability to pass tape-measure testing.
• Ability to read blueprints if applicable to the production line.

Responsibilities

• Weld structural aluminum and galvanized steel components according to blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt parts to achieve the required configuration and welding position.
• Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.
• Inspect work inline and maintain weld quality according to established quality guidelines.
• Complete welding-station tasks in accordance with established takt time, if applicable.
• Cross-train on multiple welding workstations and perform tasks at different stations as needed to fill staffing gaps.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools, including welding equipment.
