About The Position

North American Stamping is expanding and looking to hire an experienced Day Shift Team Leader for their Welding Machine Operator department on 1st shift at their TNN2 facility in Portland, TN. North American Stamping Group is a privately held company founded in 1978, specializing in innovative processes and technologies within the automotive industry. They are a Tier II supplier of components, systems, and aftermarket products, with a core business in seating, ride control, exhaust components, heat shields, noise, vibration and harness (NVH), chassis and structural, and window regulators. The company has experienced significant annual sales growth and is a leading Tier II automotive stamping and assembly supplier. The Weld Team Leader supports the Group Leader in ensuring employees safely and efficiently operate robotic welding machine cells, focusing on Safety, Quality, and efficient production techniques according to NASG standards and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED - Minimum
  • Basic computer skills
  • Demonstrated basic math skills
  • 2 Years of Manufacturing experience.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with a dynamic and demanding team.
  • Accurate, efficient, & proactive in daily duties.
  • Ability to conduct basic maintenance or mechanical activities as required.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace.
  • Accountable - Teachable - Approachable
  • Ability to learn, make decisions, and be creative & flexible.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience operating automated welding equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct leadership and instruction to Weld Machine Operators.
  • Train new employees in the department.
  • Operate welder equipment as required - including any auxiliary equipment.
  • Pack/EPC product as it is produced from the press (If applicable).
  • Complete required Production documentation: including Downtime, Production, Quality, 5-S, and TPM.
  • Hourly update of Production Tracking Log and Lean Board.
  • Part Inspection per Inspection Instructions: This includes visual inspections, & associated measurements per print & at specified intervals.
  • Final visual audit inspection and sort, fill, package and palletize all parts to packaging specifications before they are put into stock or shipped.
  • Follow Containment Checklist procedures in the event of contaminated product.
  • Production tagging/labeling to maintain inventory accuracies.
  • Verify Production schedule using the ShopEdge system.
  • Maintain all tools in proper places.
  • Report all Quality, Production or Safety problems to the Group Leader.
  • Perform & maintain 5-S Standards in area of responsibility.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance. activities are completed as required.
  • Write & follow-up on Work Orders as needed for repairs in assigned area.
  • Suggest methods of improvement, (i.e. Continuous Improvement Plan & Performance Award Program).
  • Available for overtime as required.
