About The Position

Upside Innovations, a SixAxis company, is a premier manufacturer of aluminum ramps, steps, canopies, covered walkways, and custom access products. We have been growing tremendously since our inception in 2009 which has led to our recent relocation to a new, larger site in West Chester, Ohio. We continually seek the best talent to add to our team and support our continued growth journey. The Welding Lead will be responsible for coordinating daily production in the welding department by leading and guiding welders, ensuring department standards are met, resolving quality issues, collecting and reporting production data, and maintaining safety in the welding area.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of proven leadership experience
• Experience working in manufacturing environments
• Welding experience a plus
• Positive attitude, ability to be a team player and step in where needed
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with MRP systems and Microsoft Office fluency
• Thrives in fast paced environment and handles changes in priority well
• Works comfortably under pressure
• Technical knowledge and a good understanding of production processes
• Ability to teach, guide and assist other employees as necessary
• Strong problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily production schedules and assign work orders to the welding team members.
• Set workload expectations and hold production staff accountable for consistent production levels and production quality while maintaining requested completion dates.
• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine welding requirements.
• Inspect welds to ensure they meet quality standards and conform to specifications.
• Provide recommendations to improve team member safety, production quality, workflow, efficiency, and on time delivery.
• Identify training gaps and provide feedback to the welding trainer on areas to and team members to focus on.
• Communicate company policies and standard work routines, hold team members accountable.
• Collect daily production data and report to Upside team members.
• Troubleshoot production, labor issues, tool, and equipment issues while maintaining productivity.
