This position performs all levels of welding-brazing and set-up on Heat Exchanger Product in accordance with ASME Code and Mil Spec. Requirements. The role requires a broad knowledge of welding technology and experience, with methods and assignments varying depending on skills and welding ability. The successful candidate will select and set-up welding equipment, position, jig up or clamp material to be welded or brazed to dimensional requirements, and adjust current input and select gas to obtain a proper weld for maximum strength. Work is performed from drawings and specifications, utilizing tools such as scales, squares, protractors, templates, straight edges, plumb lines, and fixed gauges. The role requires ASME Certification, military certificate (brazing), and knowledge of ASME Section IX Standards. Responsibilities also include cleaning parts and welds, obtaining necessary materials, and cleaning up debris after completing jobs. Additional duties may be required based on organizational needs. The pay rate is $33.78/hour plus a $0.85 shift differential for the 3rd shift.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a vocational school in welding practices
  • 1 to 2 years of fabrication set-up and welding
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Must pass a welding test.
  • Requires ASME Certification, military certificate (brazing) and knowledge of ASME Section IX Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all levels of welding-brazing and set-up on Heat Exchanger Product.
  • In accordance with ASME Code and Mil Spec. Requirements, must pass welding and set-up performance qualification tests.
  • Select and set-up welding equipment required, position, jig up or clamp material to be welded or brazed to dimensional requirements.
  • Adjust current input, select gas to obtain proper weld for maximum strength.
  • Works from drawings, specifications.
  • Use of scale, square, protractor, templates, straight edge, plumbline and fixed gauges.
  • Cleans parts and welds by appropriate means.
  • Obtains parts and materials within the department.
  • Clean up debris after completing each job.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be required based on organizational needs.
