About The Position

Doncasters is seeking a Weld Blender Trainee for its Groton, Connecticut team. The role supports the quality and integrity of complex castings by inspecting and removing defects found during non-destructive testing (NDT), blending welds while preserving critical wall thicknesses and features, and coordinating with the Weld, X-ray, and FPI departments. The position requires careful, high-precision finishing and a commitment to maintaining quality, safety, and an organized workspace. The posting lists a Monday through Thursday schedule from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM (40 hours) and a trainee pay rate of $21.00 per hour. The benefits section separately describes a weekend shift schedule of Friday through Sunday, 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM, and a trainee starting rate of $21.00 per hour.

Requirements

Welding experience is required.
High school diploma and/or technical school completion.
Meticulous attention to detail for high-precision finishing and quality assurance.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, including assessing casting flaws, selecting appropriate finishing techniques, and managing workflow effectively.

Experience working within a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
