About The Position

The Welcome Services Concierge is responsible for greeting customers and assessing their immediate needs, managing the first impression of the facility. This role involves offering assistance in various ways, such as helping customers out of their vehicles, locating wheelchairs, providing directions, and escorting them to their destinations. The concierge will pass customers to volunteers for escorts when possible and utilize admitting or other departments to verify destinations, remaining with patients if they are alone or in a wheelchair. Additionally, the role assists in maintaining smooth traffic flow at entrances, arranging parking needs (valet, tour buses, short-term visitors), and assisting customers with transportation needs (taxi vouchers, bus passes, van transport). The concierge must ensure the working area is clean, safe, and free from obstacles, and report any security/safety issues immediately to the Public Safety Services Department. This position works collaboratively with hospital support staff including Public Safety, Environmental Services, Plant Operations, Patient Transport, and Grounds. The role requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, understanding the principles of growth and development and assessing patient status to meet age-specific needs.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independent of direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work a flexible, customer-oriented schedule that meets the needs of Aurora guests and visitors.
  • High School Graduate.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in service management as a concierge or greeter in a large public facility.

Responsibilities

  • Greets customers and assesses their immediate needs.
  • Successfully manages the first impression of the facility.
  • Offers assistance in any way necessary to include assist out of their vehicle, locate wheelchair, provide directions, escort to destination, etc.
  • Passes customer to volunteers for escorts when possible.
  • Utilizes Admitting or other departments to verify destination and remains with the patient if they are alone or in a wheelchair.
  • Assists in maintaining a smooth traffic flow at the entrances to the facility.
  • Assists in the arrangement of parking needs of customers, i.e., valet service, tour busses, short-term visitors, etc.
  • Assists customers with transportation needs, i.e., taxi vouchers, bus passes, van transport, or other special needs.
  • Assures working area is clean of debris, safe, and free from obstacles.
  • Reports any Security/Safety issues to the Public Safety Services Department immediately.
  • Works with hospital support staff that may include, but is not limited to: Public Safety, Environmental Services, Plant Operations, Patient Transport and Grounds.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
