About The Position

The Weekend Cook works Saturdays and Sundays in a scratch-based kitchen to provide residents with a high-quality dining experience. The cook prepares breakfast, lunch, and dinner as scheduled, ensuring meals are safely cooked, visually appealing, and portioned according to resident preferences. The role also involves building positive relationships with residents, guests, and team members to help create a warm and welcoming weekend atmosphere.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to work every Saturday and Sunday, at least 8 hours per day.
Ability to read, speak, and understand basic English.
Ability to secure appropriate food handler permits as required by local ordinances within two weeks of the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and present high-quality dishes using a variety of proteins and vegetables and cooking methods such as broiling, grilling, frying, and sautéing.
Ensure each plate is visually appealing.
Contribute ideas during meetings, remain open to feedback, and maintain attentive coverage of the service line during meal hours.
Complete assigned opening and closing tasks, including morning setup and end-of-day shutdown.
Support teammates with shared duties to maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen.
Keep stations stocked and organized, maintain adequate food supplies, refresh pantry items for freshness and appearance, and monitor refrigeration as needed.
Clean work areas and equipment thoroughly.
Regularly check and record food, refrigeration, and dish-machine temperatures.
