About The Position

KREM 2 is seeking a talented and dynamic Weekend Evening Anchor for Saturday and Sunday newscasts. The successful candidate will have strong on-camera communication skills and be able to engage in spontaneous conversation with other members of the on-air team. Weekday duties include reporting and filling in as an anchor on other newscasts when needed.

Requirements

Three to five years of experience in daily journalism, including regular opportunities to anchor newscasts.
Thorough understanding of journalism practices and ethics.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communication preferred.

Responsibilities

Anchor Saturday and Sunday evening newscasts and other newscasts as assigned.
Write and copy edit stories under deadline.
Lead coverage decisions and breaking-news response on weekend shifts.
Train and mentor weekend staff.
On reporting days, identify and pitch multiple story possibilities.
On reporting days, gather, shoot, write, and edit news stories under deadline.
Produce a digital version of each broadcast story.
Produce mobile short stories in real time as stories are breaking and developing.
