About The Position

Smoky Mountain Resorts (SMR) is seeking a Pool Attendant/Lifeguard to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the pool area, providing a fun and safe experience for guests. This role involves monitoring the pool, performing rescues if necessary, and enforcing all pool regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, clear communication skills, and excellent customer service abilities.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 15 years of age.
  • Work schedules will vary based on age and Department of Labor (DOL) regulations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strength, stamina, and long-distance endurance is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding work environment.
  • Ability to take direction, attention to detail, clear communication, and excellent customer service are essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and use the English language fluently: speak, understand, read, and write.
  • Adapt Spanish interpretation when necessary.
  • Excellent attention to detail (ATD).
  • Ability to work within a diversified workforce.
  • Specific vision abilities required include peripheral, distance, close, and depth perception and the ability to adjust vision focus.
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, and sit, use hands to finger, touch, handle, and feel.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, climb and descend numerous flights of stairs consistently.
  • Required to use hand, arm, and leg to reach, bend, push, pull, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds daily.
  • Ability to tolerate various temperatures while working outdoors with exposure to high or low temperatures, sun, humidity, chemicals, chlorine, and water.
  • Stand and walk for the majority of the day.
  • Continuous ability to remember information.

Nice To Haves

  • Aquatic experience is preferred.
  • Experience in Hospitality, Resort, or Theme Park industries is preferred.
  • Certification for Pool Operator (CPO) is required or the ability to obtain within 30 days from work start date.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety-critical monitoring through active surveillance throughout the entire pool area, including pools, slides, play features, steps, tables, seating, and waterpark areas.
  • Maintain and monitor activities to achieve the highest level of cleanliness, maintenance, safety, and care in pool areas, including swimming pool, slides, water elements, play features, steps, tables, seating, pool activity areas, waterpark/hotel areas, and team member back-of-house areas.
  • Complete daily checklists for opening, closing, and facility checks.
  • Assist or rescue pool users (guests) in the event of a potential emergency.
  • Enforce SMR pool regulations and educate guests about them.
  • Ensure compliance with SMR Policies and Procedures in accordance with property and applicable Lifeguard Manuals.
  • Be informed and knowledgeable of resort/hotel property for 'activity and event' guest experience locations.
  • Perform closing procedures at the waterpark after closing.
  • Participate in weekly in-service training and drills.
  • Complete TOSHA certification to handle biohazards in compliance with proper training.
  • Comply with all company operating policies and procedures.
  • Provide support to Supervisor and Manager.
  • Contribute to building a positive team spirit.
  • Interact with team members and guests in a positive and friendly manner.
  • Support and participate in Smoky Mountain Resorts’ Legendary Service and Promise for guest satisfaction.
  • Respond to management and team members promptly.
  • Take proper health precautions such as using sunscreen, wearing sunglasses, and staying hydrated and well-rested.
  • Respond to guest-related items and issues promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and excellent judgment regarding privileged information.
  • Ensure work areas are safe, organized, and maintained.
