About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, this role reads water meters to facilitate customer billing and identifies meter equipment problems. The position involves reading water meters on assigned routes, recording readings into electronic hand-held meter-reading equipment, and obtaining final readings for changes of ownership and tenant moves. The inspector also identifies health and safety concerns related to unsafe access to the meter, detects and reports atypical conditions on meters and remote readouts, and responds to customer inquiries related to meter reading, directing billing inquiries to the appropriate Revenue Division staff and meter issues to the Meter Shop. This role may also perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Secondary school graduation
Must be able to converse with the public in a courteous and tactful manner
Must be at a basic skill level in on-line data entry skills
A working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the job class
Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
