About The Position
The Contra Costa Water District is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Meter Reader Temporary/Part-Time to join our Finance team. This position is ideal for candidates looking for flexible, field-based work and an opportunity to gain experience with the CCWD. This is a temporary, part-time, non-benefited position with hours that may vary based on operational needs, staffing coverage, and workload demands. The Meter Reader will be responsible for collecting water usage data throughout CCWD’s service area to support accurate customer billing and water service operations.

Responsibilities
- Read and record water meter data using handheld meter-reading equipment along assigned routes and schedules.
- Identify and report unusual readings, leaks, damaged meters, or other service concerns.
- Submit work orders for maintenance or repair needs.
- Maintain meter boxes and surrounding areas.
- Respond to customer questions and provide service information in the field.
- Re-read meters and verify readings for accuracy.
- Assist with route updates and adjustments as needed.
