About The Position

Resource Central is an award-winning nonprofit in Boulder, Colorado, dedicated to making conservation simple. Since 1976, their programs have helped over 1,000,000 people save water, conserve energy, and reduce waste. They are seeking candidates who can work effectively with diverse populations. The Water scarcity is a significant issue in Colorado, and Resource Central’s Slow the Flow program collaborates with over 40 Colorado municipalities and water providers to help residents conserve water through efficient irrigation. This program has already saved Colorado residents over 200 million gallons of water. The Water Conservation Technician will contribute to this impact by performing sprinkler system checkups and offering recommendations to reduce lawn water usage. This is a full-time, field-based seasonal position, requiring daily travel from home to sprinkler evaluation appointments primarily along the Colorado Front Range, especially around Fort Collins. Appointments are usually within 30 miles of the technician's residence. The role begins in July 2026 and is expected to continue through August or September 2026. Compensation includes a base pay of $20.00/hour, with opportunities for bonuses for exceptional attendance, mileage reimbursement, a cell phone stipend, paid training, and accrued paid sick leave. Requirements

  • Outstanding customer service skills and ability to maintain a positive, solution-oriented attitude is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age upon start date.
  • Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, daily access to a reliable automobile, and a smartphone required.
  • Must pass and maintain a clean background check and driving record evaluation if offered a position.
  • Daily travel to worksites in and around either Fort Collins required; appointments are typically assigned within 30 miles of a technician’s residence.
  • Ability to safely lift 30 pounds, walk continuously throughout the workday, kneel, lift, and bend repeatedly required.
  • Ability to safely work outdoors in all kinds of weather including high temperatures and rain required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fieldwork, landscaping, sprinklers, or sustainability preferred.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Help people conserve water by conducting sprinkler system checkups at homes, businesses, and other properties; training is provided.
  • Travel from home to worksite locations daily; appointment locations are assigned to minimize technician commute times when possible; mileage reimbursement is provided.
  • Test sprinkler systems and program sprinkler control clocks to improve system performance and provide a more efficient watering schedule.
  • Educate homeowners and business owners on best practices in outdoor water use.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings in person, online, and on the phone.
  • Assist with other Slow the Flow tasks or Resource Central programs as assigned.
  • Foster Inclusion to help build a strong sense of belonging by ensuring everyone feels welcomed, valued, and included at Resource Central.
