This role involves performing a variety of duties related to the construction and maintenance of the City's wastewater collection infrastructure and wastewater treatment facility and equipment. The position requires working under broad policy guidance and direction, with no direct supervision exercised for Operator I, and general guidance provided to Operator I for Operator II. Essential functions include daily operation and maintenance of the wastewater collection system, including lift stations, manholes, generators, pumps, and motors. This includes performing preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs of mains and manholes, and operating specialized equipment like jet trucks and television inspection trucks. The role also involves confined space entry for maintenance and cleaning, responding to sewer emergencies, and cross-training with wastewater treatment facility personnel. Secondary duties include operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility, collecting and testing lab samples, and adjusting process rates based on lab results. Operator II also has other duties as assigned by the Public Utilities Director/Manager and Wastewater Systems Supervisor.
