Wargaming Operations and Technical Integration Specialist

About The Position

The Naval Postgraduate School Wargaming Center SMX is seeking a Wargaming Operations and Technical Integration Specialist to integrate operational, technical, and administrative functions for complex military wargaming exercises. The role supports multi-domain wargaming events, particularly those involving international partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region, and connects technical and coding requirements with operational military realities so wargaming systems accurately reflect real-world force structures, capabilities, and constraints. The specialist will move between technical data management, operational planning, and stakeholder coordination to help complex events run successfully. The position requires an active DoD SECRET clearance for a day-one start; the posting states that U.S. citizenship is required for work on DoD contracts.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in operations research, military science, international relations, data management, computer science, or a related field.
At least 10 years of professional experience, including military operational experience in surface warfare, operations planning, or related fields.
Experience in wargaming, military exercises, or operational analysis.
Experience with data management and technical system support.
Experience with multi-stakeholder coordination and project management.
Active SECRET security clearance required for a day-one start.
Deep understanding of military force structures, platforms, weapons systems, and operational planning.
Strong data management skills and ability to work with complex databases and technical systems.
Knowledge of the Indo-Pacific security environment and regional military capabilities.
Experience coordinating with international military partners.
Ability to translate between technical or coding requirements and operational military concepts.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot under pressure.
Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with technical staff, military officers, and senior leadership.

Nice To Haves

Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) background or equivalent operational military experience; 8 or more years preferred.
Foreign Area Officer (FAO) qualification, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region.
Direct experience with wargaming systems.
Experience supporting the Naval Postgraduate School or similar academic or research institutions.
Experience with INDOPACOM regional partners.
