About The Position

The Warehouse Worker performs material handling functions at the Vancouver Election Office warehouse, including loading, unloading, sorting, storing, moving, and counting inventory. This role involves receiving and issuing voting place supplies, packing and labeling them, delivering supplies to voting places, and conducting general warehouse maintenance. Requirements

  • Completion of grade 12 or equivalency
  • Related warehouse experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A valid B.C. driver’s license is required; license must not include any restrictions that would affect the ability to legally and safely carry out job responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of warehouse methods, procedures and regulations
  • Physical strength and agility, sufficient to meet the demands of the job: lifting, bending, reaching, and carrying, including moving heavy items in all weather conditions
  • Ability to issue and receive supplies and to perform related clerical recordkeeping tasks manually or using a computer terminal
  • Ability to use software systems used in the work
  • Ability to work in a high volume environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out written and oral instructions
  • Ability to work comfortably on a ladder, or at height
  • Ability to read, write, count, and speak English
  • Steel toe boots required
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings during peak season
  • Candidates must attach a copy of their five-year ICBC Commercial Driver’s Abstract (N Print) directly from ICBC dated within 14 days of this posting
  • Candidates must attach a copy of their five-year ICBC Driver’s Claims History directly from ICBC within 14 days of this posting
  • If you have less than five years driving experience in BC, a request must be made for out of province/country abstract and claims history

Responsibilities

  • Unloads and inspects supplies for quality and quantity
  • Compares purchase order to packing slip, reports and documents any discrepancies
  • Arranges and stocks supplies on racks, shelves, or bins according to a predetermined sequence, and restocks shelves as required
  • Stores, distributes, and/or disposes of returned material
  • Conducts scheduled inventory cycle counts, records count totals, and reports any discrepancies
  • Packs, assembles, prepares, and delivers voting place supplies to voting places
  • Assists with the logistics of delivery and pick up of supplies to voting places
  • Adheres to necessary safety methods and procedures, departmental processes, and corporate policies
  • Maintains warehouse cleanliness and organization
  • Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned
