About The Position

Morehouse Instrument Company is seeking a reliable, dependable Warehouse Technician to support shipping and receiving operations alongside the production team and laboratory. The role includes preparing items for shipment, unpacking incoming shipments, maintaining clean work areas, and performing other tasks needed to meet customer expectations. The technician must be able to lift at least 50 pounds independently, drive the company vehicle, manage time effectively, and work independently or as part of a team. The position is hourly, full-time, and based in York, Pennsylvania. The stated schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pay is $20.00–$21.00 per hour, with additional profit sharing paid twice a year. The company describes possible growth paths that include learning calibrations and force calibration testing to move into a Calibration Technician role, or learning equipment repair and assisting with repairs of force calibration equipment.

Requirements

High school degree or equivalent.
Valid, unexpired Pennsylvania driver’s license and a good driving record; must be eligible for enrollment in the company’s vehicle insurance.
An eye for detail and commitment to quality work.
Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written communication.
Excellent time management skills and a good work ethic.
Experience operating a forklift safely.
Ability to work with other team members and independently.

Responsibilities

Direct drivers to designated areas for safe loading and unloading.
Physically verify the number of packages received from delivery drivers.
Inspect received equipment.
Document delivery methods, packing materials, and shipment contents using the shipping and receiving report in the Shipping and Receiving SOP.
Report damaged incoming items to the manager according to procedure.
Deliver incoming equipment to the appropriate departments or staging areas.
Review packing lists, shipping documents, and notes to ensure the correct equipment is shipped.
Photograph and document damaged inbound equipment and all outbound shipments according to SOP.
Build wooden shipping containers for machines and large parts manufactured by Morehouse.
Repair customer-provided wooden containers as needed before using them for return shipments.
Inspect and maintain customer packing materials when suitable for return shipments.
Use a laser cutter to custom-cut materials.
Operate forklifts and pallet jacks.
Make pickups and deliveries to outside vendors and suppliers using the company vehicle.
Maintain shipping and receiving supply inventory and request supplies as needed.
Keep the work area and equipment clean and orderly and follow safety regulations.
Follow the weekly cleaning schedule.
Gather waste bins and clean lunchrooms, bathrooms, and meeting rooms weekly.
Keep entrance and exit areas clean during inclement weather, including removing snow and ice from doors and walkways as needed.
Assist with routine building maintenance, including changing lights, painting, and other small repairs as directed.
