About The Position

This role is for a Warehouse Teammate/Driver who thrives on providing excellent customer service, is safety and service-oriented, and possesses the attention to detail necessary for accurate order fulfillment. The position involves both warehouse duties and driving responsibilities. In the warehouse, you will be responsible for receiving and verifying incoming shipments and customer returns, stocking and maintaining the warehouse, and picking, documenting, and packing customer orders. You will handle shipping discrepancies, identify and store nonstock, special-order, and damaged materials, and complete documentation for third-party shipments. You will also load and unload trucks, operate a forklift and other material handling equipment safely, and report stock depletions, discrepancies, or damaged merchandise to your supervisor. Maintaining warehouse cleanliness, order, and safety is crucial, as is assisting co-workers and adhering to all safety standards and training programs. As a driver, you will operate trucks safely and in compliance with company rules and regulations, delivering merchandise to various locations including job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, and other company locations. This includes loading the truck, securing the load properly, and ensuring necessary unloading equipment is available. You will understand shipping documents, ensure order accuracy, unload correct merchandise, and obtain customer signatures. You will also collect payments for cash sales, resolve shipping discrepancies with customers, and load merchandise picked up from vendors, returned by customers, or purchased from other wholesalers. Additionally, you will identify sales leads, inspect the truck daily for safe operating condition, keep the truck clean, advise management of mechanical issues, and complete required reports and training.

Requirements

  • Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Possess a proper and valid driver’s license
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.
  • 1 year warehouse receiving and material handling experience
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Counting, verifying, and receiving incoming vendor shipments and customer return material.
  • Stocking and maintaining the warehouse.
  • Picking, documenting, and packing customer orders.
  • Handling shipping discrepancies.
  • Identifying nonstock, special-order material, and damaged material and storing them in proper warehouse locations.
  • Completing necessary documentation for customer shipments delivered via third-party carrier.
  • Loading and unloading trucks.
  • Operating warehouse forklift and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Informing immediate supervisor of stock depletions, count discrepancies, or damaged/defective/nonsaleable merchandise.
  • Ensuring security and controls are in place to protect Profit Center assets.
  • Maintaining warehouse cleanliness, order, and safety.
  • Assisting co-workers in servicing customers.
  • Performing all job functions in accordance with the company’s Safety Standards.
  • Successfully completing required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Operating trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Loading the truck at the Profit Center with merchandise to be delivered.
  • Securing the load properly.
  • Ensuring that the necessary equipment to safely unload the merchandise is available.
  • Understanding the shipping documents associated with the merchandise for each delivery and having accurate directions to each delivery destination.
  • Reviewing shipping documentation and ensuring order accuracy.
  • Unloading correct merchandise from the truck and placing it where the receiving party wants it.
  • Obtaining legible signature for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
  • Collecting and securing outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries.
  • Working with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
  • Loading the truck at other locations with merchandise.
  • Providing sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses.
  • Inspecting the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure.
  • Keeping the truck clean of debris in the cab and body.
  • Advising management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Completing the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if a defect or deficiency is found.
  • Removing keys from the truck and storing keys in the approved location at the end of the workday.
  • Performing other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
