About The Position

This position serves as the primary warehouse systems resource by maintaining and supporting the Vermont Information Processing (VIP) Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ensuring accurate warehouse transactions and master data (e.g., item/location data, location and slotting setup, transaction integrity, and user access). This position is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the company’s physical product inventory by developing and implementing procedures, controls, and reporting/metrics that prevent losses and reduce shrink. This role supports inventory control activities, including daily variance and transfer processing, cycle count programs, and coordination of physical inventory and audit activities. This position maintains and reports on the warehouse slotting matrix and storage space utilization to improve placement efficiency, space utilization, and picking effectiveness. This is a highly detailed role requiring strong organizational and communication skills and will perform duties in a warehouse and office setting, working closely with Warehouse Management and Accounting and training less experienced inventory personnel as needed. This position is under the direct supervision of the Vice President of Operations and has moderate latitude for independent direction in duties. This position is based out of the Boise, ID facility.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years’ experience in managing inventory in warehouse environment preferred
  • Exhibits ability to interpret and explain inventory reports
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow directions and with necessary attention to detail
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of basic office equipment, ten key, and entry level accounting terminology
  • Demonstrate proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; Intermediate MS Excel ability, specifically with knowledge of lookup and reference functions as well as pivot tables, ability to create spreadsheets, work with formulas
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Vermont Information Processing (VIP) Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of product life cycle steps and potential impacts on shrink
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain professional relationships with internal and external clients while providing high levels of service by communicating clear and timely responses to issues, requests, problems, and regular reporting
  • Demonstrate the ability to successfully function as a member of a team through communication while engaging in self directed resourcefulness and analytical thinking

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary warehouse systems resource by maintaining and supporting the Vermont Information Processing (VIP) Warehouse Management System (WMS), including system accuracy, location/slotting setup, item and location master data, transaction integrity, and user access.
  • Maintain the accuracy of the company’s physical product inventory by developing and implementing procedures, policies, and training that prevent losses and reduce shrink.
  • Maintain the warehouse slotting matrix and provide reporting/metrics that support placement efficiency, space utilization, picking effectiveness, and inventory accuracy.
  • Work daily in the Vermont Information Processing (VIP) Warehouse Management System (WMS) to research and resolve inventory discrepancies, validate transaction integrity, and support accurate receiving, picking, transfers, and shipping; uses other ERP/warehouse software as needed.
  • Key and post daily transfers and variance sheets along with providing analysis of inventory issues.
  • Develop procedures to effectively manage and maintain company’s inventory through process and procedures.
  • Develop loss mitigation processes and protocols.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly metrics recapping all warehouses shrink, unsaleable and breakage, advising on process improvements.
  • Partner with Brand Management and Purchasing to develop and execute a plan for identifying, tracking, and dispositioning unsaleable product inventory.
  • Develop control procedures, analysis of inventory movement, financial statement analysis, and corporate communication.
  • Design and implement a cycle count schedule for optimized inventory control.
  • Lead and coach inventory counting resources (1 direct report and 2 dotted-line reports), ensuring cycle counts are executed accurately and on schedule, variances are investigated, and corrective actions are documented and communicated.
  • Oversee inventory processes in all warehouses.
  • Oversee Bonded inventory cycle counts and system tracking.
  • Oversee CHEP inventory counts and tracking.
  • Act as the main point of contact for VPO and Accounting for yearly inventory audits.
  • Help to prepare for physical inventory and support the physical inventory day activities, including but not limited to preparing warehouse floor for inventory and auditing the third-party team on the day of inventory.
  • Provide metrics of warehouse storage space relevant to inventory needs and submit future planning suggestions.
  • Maintain the warehouse slotting matrix to improve placement efficiency, space utilization, and picking effectiveness.
  • Conduct training for inventory workers.
  • Work closely with Warehouse Management and Accounting on cycle count procedures and training.
  • Perform regular 1:1s with direct reports, set goals and KPIs, holding team accountable for results and efficiencies.
  • Act as a cross-department support resource, assisting teams during high priority issues or process breakdowns.
  • Ride along on driver sell routes to track inventory flow through system for accuracy.
  • Travel to remote warehouses to perform audits once per quarter.
  • Perform inventory training as needed.
  • Fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
