About The Position

The Warehouse Receiving Lead coordinates the safe, accurate, and timely receipt of incoming product. This position leads day-to-day receiving activities, works closely with the Warehouse Manager, and communicates receiving issues to Project Coordination, Sales, Project Management, and other warehouse team members. The role is accountable for receiving documentation, damage and shortage reporting, scheduling, system accuracy, and the proper use of warehouse equipment.

Requirements

  • Follow and reinforce all company safety and security procedures within the receiving area.
  • Use forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, dollies, tools, and related equipment safely and only as authorized.
  • Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, injuries, and incidents promptly.
  • Maintain an orderly receiving area to support safe movement of people and product.
  • Experience in warehouse receiving, furniture handling, logistics, distribution, or a related environment.
  • Working knowledge of receiving documentation, freight carrier procedures, damage inspection, shortage reporting, and claims support.
  • Ability to use business software and warehouse systems to enter, retrieve, and maintain accurate receiving information.
  • Ability to organize daily work, prioritize competing needs, and make sound decisions in a timely manner.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ownership, reliability, and commitment to accurate documentation.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to use warehouse tools and equipment safely.
  • Ability to lead, train, and provide day-to-day direction to receiving team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial furniture industry experience and familiarity with major furniture product lines.
  • Experience using furniture dealership software or a comparable enterprise resource planning system.
  • Prior experience leading warehouse or receiving personnel.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain company-required certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily receiving activities and ensure team members follow established safety, loading, unloading, and material-handling procedures.
  • Review the receiving calendar with the Warehouse Manager and coordinate scheduled and unscheduled incoming deliveries.
  • Plan staffing and other resources needed to unload trucks efficiently; review related time sheets and confirm contractor invoices, as applicable.
  • Unload and inspect incoming product; identify shortages or visible damage before accepting delivery.
  • Photograph and document freight damage before signing carrier paperwork, and note exceptions clearly on delivery documents.
  • Prepare and file freight claims when necessary and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Record received product accurately in the company core business system within 24 hours of receipt.
  • Scan receiving documents to reduce paper records; maintain organized electronic and physical files and archive records after 90 days in accordance with company practices.
  • Communicate shortages, damage, delivery discrepancies, and receiving problems promptly to Project Coordination, Sales, Project Management, and the warehouse team.
  • Maintain accountability for receiving equipment and assets, including forklifts, powered and non-powered pallet jacks, panel carts, and dollies.
  • Support training, work assignment, coaching, process improvement, and problem resolution for members of the receiving team.
  • Promote the company mission and core values through professional, respectful, and ethical conduct.
  • Represent the company professionally when working with freight carriers, contractors, clients, business partners, and other visitors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
