2nd Shift Warehouse Operator
About The Position
A. M. Castle & Co. is hiring a second-shift Warehouse Operator to perform warehouse duties including pulling and checking customer orders, moving materials, loading and unloading shipments, and general material handling. The operator uses appropriate equipment to store and move products throughout the warehouse, follows customer requirements when selecting, filling, and packaging orders, and stages shipments. The position works under immediate supervision, following instructions and established guidelines. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Compensation is $19–$20 per hour plus a $1 shift differential; the position is bonus eligible. A. M. Castle & Co. is a global distributor of specialty metal and plastic products and supply chain services. Founded in 1890, the company serves customers across multiple industries and operates service centers throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
Requirements
- Basic measurement competency.
- Basic math competency.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in a warehouse environment.
- Strong work ethic.
- Ability to perform the listed physical activities, including manual dexterity; standing, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching; pushing and pulling; and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to use personal protective equipment according to the training plan.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload trucks efficiently.
- Perform material movement tasks for order filling, receiving, and loading.
- Safely use assigned power equipment to move materials and meet order requirements, including crown trucks, Raymond side-loaders, overhead cranes, and forklifts.
- Select, fill, and package orders according to customer requirements.
- Attach bundle tags to material being shipped and stage material for shipment.
- Follow instructions and pre-established guidelines while working under immediate supervision.
- Notice and report equipment defects or excessive wear; may set up and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
