About The Position

A. M. Castle & Co. is hiring a Warehouse Operator to perform warehouse operations, including pulling and checking customer orders, moving materials, loading and unloading shipments, and general material handling. The operator uses assigned equipment to store and move products throughout the warehouse. The role follows customer requirements and established instructions, works under immediate supervision, and helps maintain a clean and safe work environment. The schedule is 1 p.m. to 12 a.m., Monday through Thursday. Compensation is $21–$22 per hour, plus a $1 shift differential and a monthly incentive. A. M. Castle & Co. is a global distributor of specialty metal and plastic products and supply chain services, with service centers in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Requirements

Basic measurement competency.
Basic math competency.
Knowledge of commonly used warehouse concepts, practices, and procedures.
Strong work ethic.

Nice To Haves

High school graduate or equivalent.
One year of work experience.
One year of equipment experience.
PC literacy.
Certification in assigned equipment, such as a forklift, Raymond side-loader, or overhead crane.

Responsibilities

Load and unload trucks efficiently.
Perform material movement tasks for order filling, receiving, and loading.
Safely use assigned power equipment to move material and meet order requirements, including crown trucks, Raymond side-loaders, overhead cranes, and forklifts.
Select, fill, and package orders according to customer requirements.
Attach bundle tags to materials being shipped and stage them for shipment.
Perform job functions using instructions and pre-established guidelines under immediate supervision.
Notice and report equipment defects or excessive wear and tear; may set up and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
