About The Position

AltaLink is seeking two Warehouse Operators to join its Supply Chain Management team in Acheson, Alberta. AltaLink is an electricity transmission company that powers Alberta 24/7, delivering electricity to homes, farms, businesses, and industries. The Warehouse Operator will report to the Manager, Materials, and take day-to-day direction from the Warehouse Work Leader. This role involves working with internal and external supply chain personnel, focusing on the storage, handling, and shipping of materials for construction, maintenance projects, and emergency restoration. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate material delivery and will thrive in a professional, safety-minded team environment, developing their materials management skillsets.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 + years of related warehousing experience.
  • Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities.
  • Experience operating a variety of material handling equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) is required.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and compliance.
  • Effective analytical, organizational, planning and time management skills.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with team members and customers to promote positive outcomes.
  • Physically capable of lifting heavy objects.
  • Required to be in good physical condition, have good manual dexterity and physical coordination and meet all physical fitness, medical and weight requirements.
  • Valid Alberta driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to accept occasional overtime (e.g., evenings and weekends), on-call work and out-of-town travel.
  • Proven track record of good attendance and job performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of SAP MM and WM modules is preferred.
  • Background in electrical utilities industry an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving and inspecting inbound materials from suppliers and returns from projects, ensuring receipt of the correct materials in good order, as well as adhering to AltaLink specifications and requirements.
  • Communicating material issues to the Supply Chain Team, Project Managers, Engineers, etc.
  • Investigating and resolving material, warehousing, and logistics issues.
  • Preparing, loading, and shipping materials to work sites.
  • Coordinating material storage.
  • Maintaining yard and warehouse cleanliness ensuring work area is well organized.
  • Conducting cycle counts and annual inventory counts.
  • Assisting internal customers and contractors in meeting their material requirements.
  • Assist internal customers and contractors with emergency material requests.
  • Perform all work in a safe and secure manner.
  • Some travel to Altalink facilities and work sites is required.
