Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration, public administration, logistics/supply chain management or operations management. Additional qualifying experience beyond that required may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis provided that graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency is met.
  • Five years of experience in warehouse or logistics operations.
  • Three years of the required experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
  • A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California and the use of a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the purchasing, inventorying, storing, cataloging, and distributing of stock commodities including supplies, equipment, furniture, and food.
  • Developing and recommending policies, procedures, regulations, and schedules.
  • Participating in the development, implementation, and debugging of computerized systems for the acquisition, storage, tracking, and distribution of stock items, and recommends modifications as needed.
  • Directing studies and surveys designed to improve efficiency in material handling and warehouse operations.
  • Interpreting and explaining warehouse best practices to District administrators and staff.
  • Directing the receiving and inspection of all stock commodities.
  • Implementing procedures for handling salvaged and donated materials.
  • Developing and supervising security control procedures for warehouse operations.
  • Monitoring compliance with governmental regulations regarding receipt, storage, and distribution.
  • Directing the development and operation of in-service training and workplace safety programs.
  • Recommending repair or replacement of warehouse equipment and repair of or alterations to warehouse facilities.
  • Participating in planning new facilities to meet the future demand of departmental operations.
  • Compiling data in connection with the preparation of specifications for material handling equipment and other equipment as necessary.
  • Administering budgets and managing personnel related matters to improve service and ensure operational efficiencies.
  • Interpreting and applying provisions of collective bargaining agreements and participates in labor management committees.
  • Serving as one of the logistics liaisons for the Materiel Management Branch.
