Requirements

  • 10+ years in consulting or engineering roles with depth in infrastructure, cloud, automation, business continuity, disaster recovery, and security.
  • Valid driver’s license with insurance.
  • Some local travel to and from clients is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience leading teams, mentoring consultants or engineers, or managing workload distribution.
  • Skilled communicator able to coach individuals, resolve conflicts, and maintain professionalism in client-facing environments.
  • Experience with ConnectWise Manage (or similar PSA), Azure, Microsoft 365, and ITSM processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build engagement and foster collaboration across multiple service lines.
  • Familiarity with project planning, workload forecasting, and capacity management.
  • Exposure to compliance audits, security audits, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Experience coordinating across multiple service lines (Engineering, Account Management, Security, Support Desk).

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and coach consultants, participating in regular 1:1s, daily standups, backlog/WIP reviews, and priority planning.
  • Directly manage up to five consultants, supporting professional growth through coaching, skill development, and clear progression paths.
  • Balance leadership responsibilities with a personal book of consulting business, maintaining approximately >50% billable utilization.
  • Own team prioritization, scheduling, capacity planning, and forecasting accuracy for consulting engagements.
  • Drive strategic planning, business reviews (QBRs), budgeting for the team’s assigned book of business.
  • Serve as a strong client advocate, ensuring technology strategies align with client business goals while promoting least-cost, best-fit solutions.
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Account Management, Security, Support Desk, Product, and Project teams to drive customer retention, ensure seamless service delivery, and create consistent client outcomes.
  • Collaborate with account management and sales teams to drive meaningful growth of customer accounts.
  • Review and approve time entries and expenses, assign work aligned to skills and SLAs, and ensure work is completed within the month to meet financial goals.
  • Provide oversight into complex consulting engagements, changes, and incidents, including reviewing root cause analyses and escalating high-risk or non-standard issues to the Director of Consulting.
  • Contribute to the development of consulting standards and ensure adherence to documentation, change control, and quality expectations.
  • Participate in management training and ongoing leadership development (LOS).
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of client outcomes and team success.
