About The Position

Under general supervision, the Warehouse Custodian keeps office buildings, break rooms, bathrooms, yards and grounds, parking lots, warehouses, and/or dock areas clean and orderly and ensures the sanitation of work areas. The position performs heavy cleaning and routine maintenance, supports pest-control monitoring when required, and helps maintain safe, litter-free grounds. Work may also include cleaning the interiors of trailers or railcars. The associate follows company and OSHA safety requirements and may perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred, or at least one year of related work experience.
Ability to follow written or verbal instructions and solve routine problems.
Ability to understand and follow safety rules, procedure manuals, and diagrams.
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
Ability to interact appropriately with coworkers and supervisors, including responding appropriately to supervisor criticism.
May be required to work overtime, evenings, or weekends to complete work or attend meetings as directed and authorized by management.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of cleaning equipment.
Knowledge of the safe use of cleaning chemicals.
Knowledge of cleaning procedures and janitorial techniques.
Ability to use cleaning equipment such as steamers, floor scrubbers, and carpet cleaners.

Responsibilities

Clean floors, shampoo rugs, wash walls and glass, and remove rubbish.
Perform routine maintenance and remove or clean debris from grounds; notify management of needed repairs.
Check that pest-control systems are operating effectively when required and report problems to a supervisor.
Remove ice and snow from pedestrian walkways and parking lots as seasonally required.
Keep company grounds free of litter and debris.
Work safely and report hazards to the shift supervisor.
Comply with OSHA standards and company workplace safety procedures.
Follow the attendance policy and report on time, ready to work the assigned shift.
Wash and/or sweep the interiors of trailers and/or railcars when required.
Perform other assigned duties, including duties outside normal responsibilities as needed.
