About The Position

The Palletizer works in Ocean State Job Lot’s Distribution Center, building and preparing pallets according to company safety, quality, and productivity standards so merchandise is accurately prepared for shipment. The role regularly uses pallet jacks, manual pallet jacks, and radio frequency (RF) scanners. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Work is primarily in a DC warehouse, where conditions include temperature extremes, noise, and moving conveyors and equipment. The role requires regularly lifting and moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds, bending, lifting, stretching, reaching below the waist and above the head, and remaining stationary or continually moving for up to 10–12 hours per day. Requirements

Ability to satisfactorily complete the Powered Equipment Training Program and attain a license.
Ability to satisfactorily complete the Splitting Area Training Program and pass the Splitting Area proficiency test.
Ability to operate powered industrial equipment and obtain any applicable license.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to comply with established standards.
English speaking, reading, and comprehension skills.
Ability to learn to use an RF scanner and a wrapping machine.
Ability to meet area productivity, quality, safety, housekeeping, and attendance standards.
Ability to lift and move 50 pounds of material regularly.
Ability to bend, lift, stretch, and reach both below the waist and above the head.
Ability to remain stationary and/or continually move for up to 10–12 hours per day.

Responsibilities

Work with pallets through the entire cycle of activation, storage, and closing.
Build, stack, wrap, run, and sort pallets according to established standards.
Load and unload freight efficiently and safely.
Operate and inspect technology, including walkie-talkies and powered or manual pallet jacks.
Complete RF scanning, consolidation, and documentation.
Separate merchandise for different store groups or designated areas.
Accurately label and date merchandise with identification numbers, packing slip information, and category numbers.
Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean work area to meet or exceed area safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Comply with standard operating procedures and OSHA standards.
Perform other job duties and tasks as assigned by supervisors or managers.
