About The Position

Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, the Warehouse and Shipping Supervisor will be responsible for all aspects of the Center Plant warehouse and shipping department. This role involves managing inventory, overseeing the loading and receiving of trucks, maintaining a clean warehouse, supervising personnel, and ensuring safety compliance.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of shipping procedures, including scheduling and planning, logistics, paperwork and documentation.
  • Inventory management, including FIFO, organization, inventory count accuracy, condition, and labeling.
  • Ability to supervise direct reports and coordinate personnel work schedules to maximize cost controls and efficiencies, while achieving deadlines and on-time shipments and avoiding detention charges.
  • Good mathematical skills; ability to keep accurate and legible records in English.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate well with all levels of staff and management.
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and implement solutions to problems.
  • Knowledge of the operation of a Windows-based computer system and company software.
  • Extensive forklift operating experience.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, or move repetitively for up to 12 hours.
  • Must be able to lift on a regular basis 50 to 65 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to tolerate dust and/or chemicals.
  • Bending, stretching, crouching, lifting, reaching, climbing, and manual dexterity required.
  • Ability to work around moving equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory control for ingredients, materials, finished products, work-in-process, including maintaining accurate counts, organization, and cycle counts.
  • Loading of outbound trucks according to established procedures and regulatory requirements, ensuring accurate records and paperwork.
  • Receiving of inbound trucks according to established procedures.
  • Keeping the warehouse clean and free of pests by working with the sanitation department and outside services.
  • Supervising warehouse personnel, including scheduling and payroll reporting.
  • Ensuring all shipping/warehouse employees follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Assigning work for each employee and adjusting assignments as necessary to meet shipping schedules and requirements.
  • Identifying vacant positions, reviewing applications, interviewing, and offering employment.
  • Training and safety orientation for new hires, identifying developmental and training needs, and issuing discipline and corrective actions.
  • Authorizing overtime, merit pay, and recognition programs.
  • Working with management for policy dissemination and interpretation.
