The purpose of this position is to perform beverage service functions in a bar or lounge. This includes asking patrons what beverages are desired, describing or suggesting cocktails, highballs, wines, or other beverages upon request, and giving orders to the bartender. The role also involves adding fruit or decorations as required, serving beverages on a tray, observing when patrons leave and cleaning tables, returning used glassware to the bar, and maintaining a clean work area. Additionally, the waiter collects payment from patrons when drinks are served and may dispense bottled beverages, confections, and tobacco, or serve any item upon request. The position also includes performing other related duties as assigned. The waiter is assigned to a workstation by the supervisor and given specific and detailed instructions, and is responsible for complying with standard methods and procedures such as conduct, etiquette, dress code, and table setting techniques.
