About The Position

The Field Medic provides basic and advanced life support care to ill and injured individuals at Brayton Fire Training Field and other designated locations, serving staff and students in training and operational environments. The medic assesses the nature and severity of illnesses and injuries, establishes care priorities, and determines whether additional medical assistance or resources are needed.

The role also supports field safety operations, including enforcing safety policies such as seat belt use and speed limits. It conducts safety inspections related to maintenance and construction activities on the fire field, including issuing work permits and performing audits. The position reports to the Safety, Health, and Medical Program Manager and requires following the TEEX Code of Conduct and Stars Values.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of verifiable experience in a high-volume city or county 911 emergency medical service (EMS) system, serving as a released or in-charge EMT-Paramedic or Licensed Paramedic.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
• TDSHS EMT-Paramedic or Licensed Paramedic credential.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic and advanced life support care to ill and injured individuals at Brayton Fire Training Field and other designated locations.
• Assess the nature and severity of illnesses and injuries, establish care priorities, and determine the need for additional medical assistance or resources.
• Conduct patient assessments and field observations.
• Maintain accurate medical records and complete patient care reports according to established protocols and procedures.
• As assigned, manage medical inventory, sanitize and maintain medical equipment, test gas detection devices, and keep the field medic office and treatment areas clean, organized, and presentable.
• Support field safety operations, including enforcing seat belt and speed-limit policies.
• Conduct safety inspections related to maintenance and construction activities on the fire field, issue work permits, perform audits, and carry out other assigned safety-related duties.
• Follow the TEEX Code of Conduct and Stars Values.
