About The Position

Fanatics TCG is a Seattle-based trading card game studio within Fanatics Collectibles, building enduring franchises across tabletop, digital, community, and culture. The VP of Trading Card Games is the executive leader accountable for the creative vision, design integrity, and commercial success of the studio’s second flagship trading card game. This leader oversees the franchise from core game design and world-building through set architecture and long-range planning, and serves as the final decision-maker on what ships. The role balances creative ambition, player experience, quality, and business performance while working across creative, product, publishing, print operations, commercial, and finance teams. The position is onsite at the Seattle office five days per week.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in games, including significant time leading a title or franchise as an Executive Producer, Studio Head, GM, or in an equivalent single-owner role.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a game that shipped and was sustained.
  • Deep craft credibility with creative and design leaders; ability to contribute meaningfully to mechanics discussions and distinguish design problems from personal preferences.
  • Track record of shipping on a recurring cadence, such as live service, seasonal, or set-based releases.
  • Comfort operating in an early-stage, evolving studio environment, drawing boundaries with peers and making decisions without complete information.
  • Respect for players as a core operating value, with the ability to advocate for the game’s long-term health amid shorter-term priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder-management skills across creative, commercial, and executive audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading a trading card game, tabletop game, or hybrid physical and digital franchise.
  • Familiarity with physical-product operations, including manufacturing lead times, print planning, and related creative constraints.
  • Experience establishing a studio or new franchise from an early stage through launch.
  • Background in organized play, competitive communities, or long-lived player ecosystems.
  • Hands-on participation in the hobby and an understanding of play, value, and fandom gained through direct experience.
  • Passion for trading card games, collectibles, and fan culture.

Responsibilities

  • Own the creative and product vision for a game franchise, from core game design and world-building through set architecture and the long-range franchise roadmap.
  • Serve as the final decision-maker on what ships, balancing creative ambition, player experience, and business KPIs.
  • Own the franchise development plan, including the multi-year set pipeline, milestone structure, resourcing, and tradeoffs needed to sustain a release cadence while protecting quality.
  • Partner with product, print operations, and commercial leadership on rarity architecture, product configuration, and manufacturing constraints, translating creative intent into physical execution.
  • Share accountability for the franchise’s commercial performance; partner with commercial and finance leadership on forecasting, product mix, and long-range planning, and consider business consequences in creative decisions.
  • Partner with the VP of Publishing on launch strategy, live support, and organized play so the game’s support reflects how it was designed.
  • Represent the franchise to studio and Fanatics leadership, clearly communicating vision, progress, risk, and the case for investment.
  • Act as a public voice for the game with players, retail partners, creators, and the broader hobby ecosystem.
