VP, Product Management

LaunchDarkly
•$360,400 - $583,000

About The Position

LaunchDarkly is hiring the leader of its Product Management organization. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, this hands-on operating role owns the people, operating system, roadmap commitments, and commercial outcomes across every product pillar. The VP will serve as the product management peer to the heads of Engineering and Product Design, translating the CPO’s product vision and strategic direction into a coherent portfolio, shipped outcomes, customer adoption, and revenue growth. The role leads cross-functional product work with Engineering, Product Design, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Finance; builds and develops the product management organization; and establishes the operating cadence for predictable execution. The VP will drive roadmap delivery across Enterprise, Foundation, Observability, Experimentation, Agent Control, Automation, and the underlying platform; maintain portfolio discipline while preserving flexibility; and ensure launches and products are iterated through field adoption and customer learning. The position also owns packaging execution and commercial outcomes, including how pricing and packaging are implemented in the product and supported by the field. The VP will remain close to customers and the field, bring their insights into product decisions, and help the organization use AI-assisted development and product practices to increase delivery speed while maintaining quality and judgment. In the first year, success means establishing a complete and scalable product organization with clear leadership, ownership, decision rights, and succession plans; increasing shipped output quarter over quarter while maintaining quality; running the product operating system consistently without the CPO driving it; ensuring each initiative has an explicit staffing plan; improving pillar metrics such as activation, attach, activity, and expansion; and strengthening the product management team.

Requirements

  • At least 15 years of Product Management experience, including at least 7 years leading Product Managers and product leaders across a multi-product B2B platform.
  • Experience leading Product Management at VP, SVP, or equivalent level across a multi-product B2B platform.
  • Experience leading a product management organization of 20 or more product managers at a company with approximately $100 million to $500 million in revenue.
  • A track record of building and developing a product organization rather than simply inheriting one.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn company strategy into a reliable operating system that delivers roadmap commitments and measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience working with a founder or visionary executive and converting a high volume of ideas into a sequenced, resourced portfolio.
  • Experience building products for engineering organizations and selling to CTOs, platform leaders, and data science teams.
  • Strong commercial fluency, including experience owning or materially influencing pricing, packaging, attach, expansion, and go-to-market execution.
  • Experience balancing enterprise and self-serve motions, including understanding enterprise expansion drivers and value for developers on a free plan.
  • Practical experience using AI agents in personal work and applying AI-native approaches to product management or software development, with clear opinions supported by shipped work.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, make decisions with incomplete information, and improve delivery speed without compromising product quality.
  • Direct, decisive, and high-agency approach to identifying problems, proposing fixes, and acting.
  • Ability to simplify and remove friction and process while helping a company operate with the agility of a small company.
  • Experience building and developing people, setting clear performance standards, promoting based on evidence, and addressing performance problems.
  • Ability to challenge strategy, use evidence to make decisions, and maintain relationships through disagreement.
  • Strong written communication and decision-making skills, including using written arguments to create alignment and ending meetings with decisions.
  • Customer-oriented and commercially grounded, with the ability to engage both technical users and executive buyers or sales leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional product leadership and serve as the product counterpart to Engineering, Product Design, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Finance.
  • Resolve cross-functional tradeoffs, establish shared commitments, and ensure the company presents a coherent product strategy to customers and the market.
  • Build and lead the product management organization, including organizational design, resource allocation, talent standards, succession planning, and clear ownership for each product surface.
  • Own the product operating system, including quarterly commitments, leadership reviews, squad-level inspection, launch briefs, new product introduction, and product-to-field handoffs.
  • Drive roadmap delivery across Enterprise, Foundation, Observability, Experimentation, Agent Control, Automation, and the underlying platform.
  • Create portfolio discipline by requiring explicit decisions for new bets while retaining flexibility to respond to market changes.
  • Ensure marketing dates are commitments the product organization can confidently support.
  • Drive completion beyond initial releases by ensuring teams iterate based on learning, launches are amplified by the field, and processes create leverage.
  • Own packaging execution and commercial outcomes, including bringing pricing and packaging into the product and field.
  • Help representatives sell the full platform and ensure each product pillar contributes to its commercial goals.
  • Spend time with large customers and demanding evaluators, translate insights into product decisions, and scale the incorporation of customer and field insights into the roadmap.
  • Promote the adoption of AI-assisted development and product practices to increase delivery speed while maintaining quality and judgment.
