About The Position

Recruiting for a fast-growing European company scaling its technology organization. They have multiple engineering teams working across different product areas but lack consistent engineering culture and standardized processes. They need someone to unify the function and prepare it for the next phase of growth. The role involves managing the heads of three engineering areas and reporting directly to the CPTO, acting as the layer between the executive team and the engineering function. The goal is to ensure teams ship effectively, standards rise, and culture improves. This includes standardizing engineering culture practices, delivery standards, and operational rhythms across all teams, identifying and fixing issues, and preparing the organization for transformation in how it builds and ships technology. The role requires end-to-end responsibility across all three engineering areas, owning both successes and failures. The position requires being in the Warsaw office at least 3 days per week, as engineering leadership is considered a contact sport where calibration happens in person.

Requirements

  • Experience managing large engineering teams, including organizations with multiple teams reporting through area leads, and scaling without adding bureaucracy.
  • A track record of building or repairing engineering culture, having taken organizations with inconsistent practices and created standards that teams follow.
  • Experience standardizing processes across multiple engineering groups, unifying how teams plan, review, deploy, and operate.
  • Comfort with organizational transformation, having led or prepared engineering teams through significant change (restructuring, scaling, technology migration).
  • End-to-end ownership mindset; not delegating accountability, but advising, deciding, and taking responsibility.
  • Aspiration toward a CTO role.
  • Fluency in English. Polish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the heads of three engineering areas and report directly to the CPTO.
  • Standardize how the engineering organization works, defining and enforcing engineering culture practices, delivery standards, and operational rhythms across all teams.
  • Identify, fix, and ensure the sustainability of improvements within the engineering organization.
  • Prepare the organization for transformation in how it builds and ships technology, leading preparation, removing blockers, and ensuring team readiness.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility across all three engineering areas, owning both failures and successes.
  • Be present in the Warsaw office at least 3 days per week for in-person collaboration and calibration.
