About The Position

VisibleThread is hiring a VP of IT, Support & DevOps to lead the teams responsible for securely delivering software to production and supporting customers across VisibleThread’s cloud, AWS GovCloud, and customer-hosted environments. The role reports to the CEO, sits on the Senior Leadership Team, and leads the DevOps and Support teams. Security and compliance are integral to the product, and this role is accountable for how the product is shipped, operated, and supported, as well as serving as a technical voice for VisibleThread with customers and prospects.

The VP will own the AWS GovCloud environment and its compliance posture, including FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and SOC 2; oversee releases from engineering into production for both cloud and self-hosted customers; and run cloud operations across commercial AWS and GovCloud. The role also leads the secure software development lifecycle, vulnerability management, CI/CD, developer tooling, and customer support, including final escalation for issues in on-premise and restricted environments. The VP will develop the DevOps and Support teams and advise strategic customers technically.

VisibleThread builds document-intelligence software for proposal, bid, and compliance teams in government agencies, defense contractors, and regulated enterprises. Customers can use the software in VisibleThread’s cloud, AWS GovCloud, private cloud, on-premises, or air-gapped environments. The position is based in the Virginia/Washington, DC metro area and is remote-friendly, with regular overlap with the Ireland-based team. On-site expectations are to be confirmed; the benefits description also notes remote work with a requirement to work from the Tyson’s Corner offices when required.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in software, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering.
• 5+ years leading technical teams, ideally across operations and customer support.
• Hands-on ownership of a FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, or similar government compliance program, ideally in AWS GovCloud.
• Deep experience running production workloads on AWS, including availability, incident management, observability, and cost.
• Experience with CI/CD and secure SDLC, including SBOM, dependency and static scanning, and remediation SLAs.
• Experience supporting software that customers run on premises.
• Sufficient Java/Spring experience to be credible with engineers.
• Comfort operating as a customer-facing technical leader.
• Experience leading remote teams across time zones.
• Experience using AI to automate operations, support, or developer workflows.
• US citizenship.

Nice To Haves

• Microsoft 365 GCC/GCC High or other US government cloud experience.
• Experience with Datadog or similar tools.
• Experience as the accountable owner in a FedRAMP assessment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the DevOps and Support teams and serve on the Senior Leadership Team.

• Own the release process from engineering into production for cloud and customer-hosted deployments.

• Lead Support and act as the final escalation point for customer issues, including those involving on-premise and restricted environments.
• Build and develop the DevOps and Support teams.
• Serve as the technical voice of VisibleThread with customers and prospects and advise strategic customers.
• Use AI to automate operations, support, or developer workflows.
