About The Position

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Vice President, Indirect Procurement, Orthopedics, located in Raritan, NJ, West Chester, PA, Warsaw, IN, Raynham, MA or Palm Beach Gardens, FL reporting to the Chief Procurement Officer. As DePuy Synthes separates from Johnson & Johnson to become the world’s largest, most comprehensive Orthopaedics-focused company, the organization is entering a defining chapter—establishing its own corporate identity, voice, culture, and reputation while continuing to serve patients, customers, and healthcare systems around the world. Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes. Job Overview The Vice President, Indirect Procurement provides enterprise‑level leadership for the strategy, governance, and execution of indirect procurement across DePuy Synthes. This role has a significant impact on cost optimization, supplier performance, risk management, and operational effectiveness by ensuring procurement strategies directly support business priorities. The position plays a critical role in shaping scalable procurement capabilities as DePuy Synthes evolves as a standalone organization, partnering closely with senior business and functional leaders to drive value, compliance, and long‑term growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, or related field).
  • 10–15+ years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, and/or consulting leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading indirect procurement at a global or enterprise level.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute indirect sourcing procurement strategies that maximize supplier value delivering measurable financial and operational impact.
  • Experience leading and developing senior‑level teams in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Strong highly visible executive presence with the ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Deep understanding of sourcing, contracting, supplier management, and procurement governance best practices.
  • English required

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in medical devices, healthcare, life sciences, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience executing large‑scale transformation initiatives, including business separation or operating model change.
  • Subject matter expert in digital procurement platforms, analytics and best practice tools.
  • Experience managing global supplier ecosystems and complex commercial negotiations.
  • Demonstrated change leadership visionary with organizational development capabilities.
  • additional languages preferred.
  • Professional procurement or supply chain certifications (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Build, develop, and lead a high‑performing indirect procurement organization with a strong focus on recruitment, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Lead the global indirect procurement strategy across key spend categories such as IT, professional services, facilities, marketing, and other indirect services.
  • Champion and execute enterprise change initiatives, including operating model evolution, digital procurement enablement, and business separation activities.
  • Partner and proactively engage with senior business leaders to align procurement strategies with organizational priorities, growth initiatives, and transformation efforts.
  • Drive cost management, productivity, and value‑creation initiatives while delivering on service quality, supplier innovation, and risk mitigation objectives.
  • Lead supplier strategy, including supplier selection, performance management, relationship governance, and risk management; Ensure robust cross functional input.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Finance and other leaders to ensure alignment of contracting standards, regulatory requirements, financial controls, and budgeted savings.
  • Establish and oversee governance frameworks to ensure compliant, ethical, and value‑driven sourcing and contracting practices.
