VP Commercial North America

NewGenNew York, NY
$175,000 - $235,000Hybrid

About The Position

NewGen is a global social creative and creator agency with over 100 people across offices in London, Manchester, Paris and New York. We partner with leading brands to shape culture, tell stories that matter, and drive meaningful impact through social-first creative and creators. We are not an advertising agency. We live Social, move at the speed of culture, and build strategies designed to perform where people actually spend their time. We are looking for a VP, Commercial to serve as the most senior commercial leader in our North American business. This is a pivotal, high-visibility hire in NewGen's growth story — responsible for shaping and executing a bold commercial strategy across the US and Canada, owning the full P&L for new business revenue, and building the commercial team and partnerships infrastructure that will define our next phase of growth. This role reports to the US Managing Director, with a dotted line into the Co-Founder & Global CCO, giving you both day-to-day operational partnership in-market and a direct line into global commercial strategy. You will bring a proven track record of building and leading high-performing commercial functions, deep C-suite relationships across the North American marketing ecosystem, and the strategic vision to position NewGen as the defining agency of the creator economy. We are looking for someone who can make an immediate, material impact — this is not a role with a long ramp-up period. We expect a credible plan to generate a qualified pipeline within the first 90 days and closed revenue within the first two quarters, drawing on relationships and market credibility you already hold. Performance will be measured primarily on Net Fee Income (NFI) generated across the territory, client quality, and the commercial organisation you build.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in commercial leadership, business development or revenue-generating roles within social, influencer or creator marketing — with a significant portion in the US or Canadian market
  • A track record of building, leading and scaling commercial teams and functions, not just managing pipelines
  • Demonstrable success originating and closing multi-million dollar, multi-year partnership agreements with major brands and holding companies
  • An active, transferable network of senior marketing decision-makers you can credibly activate within your first few months in the role
  • Deep financial acumen — setting revenue targets, managing commercial performance and driving accountability across a territory or market
  • Exceptional C-suite presence and gravitas — you are comfortable as the most senior person in the room and have the credibility to operate at that level
  • Deep fluency in the influencer, creator and social media landscape, including a forward-looking understanding of Creator AI technology and the evolving creator economy
  • A strong, active network of senior marketing decision-makers, pitch consultants and agency relationships across North America
  • Experience shaping commercial strategy at a senior or executive level — contributing to business direction, not just executing against it
  • Outstanding communication, storytelling and negotiation skills — you can articulate a compelling commercial vision and close complex deals
  • A bias for speed and action — comfortable operating with minimal onboarding support and building momentum from day one

Nice To Haves

  • Existing relationships or deal experience in gaming, spirits/beverage, hospitality, fintech or sports — verticals closely aligned to NewGen's current client base
  • Experience building new service lines, capabilities or market positions within an agency or commercial organisation
  • Strong relationships within the US marketing events, awards and trade body community
  • Experience contributing to global commercial strategy from a market-level leadership position

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the commercial growth strategy for NewGen North America, setting ambitious targets and the plans to deliver them
  • Take full P&L accountability for new business revenue across the US and Canada, with direct responsibility for the performance across the territory
  • Identify and prioritise the highest-value growth opportunities across social, influencer and creator briefs — shaping where and how NewGen competes in market
  • Build the commercial infrastructure — processes, tools, reporting and culture — that will scale with the business
  • Develop and lead the North American commercial team, creating a high-performance new business function
  • Cultivate and own C-suite and senior marketing relationships at major brands, holding companies and in-house marketing teams across North America
  • Lead NewGen's most strategically significant pitches and commercial negotiations — personally driving multi-year, multi-market and transformational partnership agreements
  • Build and steward a network of pitch consultants across North America, positioning NewGen as the go-to agency for the social, creative and creator economy
  • Identify, activate and deepen marketing partnerships with media owners, platforms, trade bodies and complementary agencies that amplify NewGen's commercial reach
  • Serve as a highly visible, authoritative voice for NewGen in the North American market — at industry conferences, events, media and in client rooms
  • Secure and personally deliver keynote and senior speaking opportunities that build NewGen's brand and reputation at the highest levels of the industry
  • Champion NewGen's positioning as a leader in Creator AI technology, credibly articulating how our tech stack delivers genuine business transformation for major brands
  • Stay at the forefront of platform shifts, creator economy trends, competitor positioning and brand investment patterns — translating market intelligence into strategic advantage for the business
  • Serve as a true strategic partner to the US Managing Director on day-to-day commercial execution, resourcing and go-to-market priorities
  • Maintain a cadence of structured commercial reporting to the Co-Founder & Global CCO — pipeline, revenue forecasts, market intelligence and strategic opportunity assessment — and actively co-shape global commercial strategy with North American market insight
  • Identify white space opportunities and emerging verticals for NewGen to expand into across North America, bringing forward-looking commercial thinking to both the US Managing Director and global leadership team
  • Lead, inspire and develop the North American commercial team — currently including the Associate Partnerships Director — with a view to scaling the team as the business grows
  • Set clear performance standards, coach commercial talent, and build a culture of ambition, accountability and collaboration within the new business function
  • Partner with strategy, creative and influencer teams to ensure pitch quality, coherence and consistent standards across all commercial activity
  • Oversee smooth client onboarding by working closely with account and operations leadership on handoffs, ensuring commercial relationships convert into exceptional delivery
