About The Position

Alpha Omega Hospice is seeking volunteers to support patients, families, caregivers, and the hospice care team in the Brownwood area, including Cisco, Eastland County, and surrounding communities. Volunteer opportunities include administrative and organizational support, patient companionship, pet therapy, music, and veteran-to-veteran connection. Volunteers are not paid employees and do not receive compensation for their time. No hospice experience is required for pet therapy volunteers, but their pets must be certified and vaccinated.

• Pass background check requirements.
• For pet therapy volunteering, have a certified and vaccinated pet.
• Hospice experience is not required for pet therapy volunteering.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and organizational assistance, such as light data entry, assembling packets, sending cards to family members, organizing patient memories, and sewing memory bears or blankets.
• Visit patients to provide companionship and give caregivers a break through activities such as reading, hobbies, games, and listening.
• Share visits with patients using a certified, vaccinated therapy pet.
• Use musical talents to bring comfort and enjoyment to patients and healthcare staff.
• Connect with fellow veterans, provide companionship, and participate in meaningful ceremonies.
