About The Position

Legacy Hospice is seeking volunteers to support patients, families, caregivers, and staff through a variety of service opportunities. Volunteers may assist with administrative and organizational tasks, visit patients for companionship, provide pet therapy with a certified and vaccinated pet, share music, or connect with veteran patients. Volunteers are not paid employees and receive no compensation for their time. No hospice experience is needed for pet therapy volunteers.

Requirements

• Have a heart for serving others and appreciate the hospice mission.
• Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and deep respect for individuals and their unique journeys.
• Welcome and value people of all backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs.
• Pass background check requirements.
• Pet therapy volunteers must have a certified and vaccinated pet.

Responsibilities

• Help with light data entry, assemble packets, and send cards to family members.
• Organize special memories for patients and sew memory bears or blankets.
• Visit patients to provide companionship and give caregivers a break through activities such as reading, hobbies, games, and listening.
• Bring a certified and vaccinated therapy pet to visit patients and provide joy and emotional support.
• Share musical talents to comfort patients and healthcare staff.
• Connect with fellow veterans, provide companionship, and participate in meaningful ceremonies.
