About The Position

Sanctuary Hospice is seeking volunteers in the Tinley Park area to support its patient-centered hospice mission. Volunteers help bring dignity, comfort, peace, and human connection to patients and their loved ones. Opportunities include administrative and organizational support, patient companionship, pet therapy, music, and veteran-focused support. Volunteers are not paid employees and do not receive compensation for their time.

• Pass background check requirements.

Nice To Haves

• For pet therapy volunteering, have a certified and vaccinated pet.
• No hospice experience is needed for pet therapy volunteering.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and organizational support, including light data entry, assembling packets, sending cards to family members, organizing patient memories, and sewing memory bears or blankets.
• Visit patients to provide companionship and give caregivers a break through activities such as reading, hobbies, playing games, and listening.
• Visit patients with a certified, vaccinated therapy pet to provide joy and emotional support.
• Share musical talents to comfort patients and healthcare staff.
• Connect with fellow veterans, provide companionship, and participate in meaningful ceremonies supporting and honoring veteran patients.
