About The Position

Tallahassee State College (TSC) is seeking dedicated professionals for part-time Volunteer/Intern positions within the Adult Education Program. The Adult Education Department offers instructional programs in Adult Basic Education (ABE), GED® Preparation, and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), focusing on essential skills like reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and English proficiency. These programs also aim to equip adult learners for success in post-secondary education. Volunteers/Interns will support lead instructors in the classroom and adhere to all College policies and procedures.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent
One (1) year of relevant experience teaching and/or tutoring adults or young adults related skills such as reading, writing, language arts, math, science, social studies, digital literacy, career and education planning, and test-taking skills.
Practical work experience and background that will help facilitate a rich learning environment for diverse adult education populations.

Responsibilities

Tutoring students one-on-one or in small groups according to Florida Adult Education Curriculum Frameworks and assigned lesson plans.
Assisting the lead instructor in the classroom as needed.
Adhering to all College policies and procedures and division and departmental procedures.
Successfully completing a criminal background check, which will include fingerprinting.
