About The Position

The volunteer coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director of Community Relations with developing and implementing a comprehensive volunteer program that supports the mission of Emmaus Community serving adults with intellectual disabilities. This position recruits, trains, schedules and supports volunteers (groups and individuals) while fostering meaningful relationships with the people served and with Emmaus employees.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or higher
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Share Point, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and to maintain confidentiality
  • Driver’s License
  • Reliable transportation
  • Act 34 & FBI clearances
  • Flexibility

Nice To Haves

  • Experience involving the coordination or supervision of volunteers preferred
  • Experience working with people with Intellectual Disabilities a plus

Responsibilities

  • Willingness to carry out the mission and support the values of the Emmaus Community
  • Ability to work as a team member, follow directions, and agree to supervision by Director of Community Relations
  • Assist Director of Community Relations with expanding the volunteer program
  • Recruit volunteers through civic organizations, faith communities, colleges, schools, businesses and other community outreach
  • Conduct interviews, orientation, and training for volunteers and Community Service participants
  • Match volunteers with opportunities based on their interests, skills and abilities
  • Schedule and support volunteers in activities to include: Recreational and social activities, Special events and fundraisers, Administrative projects, Advocacy initiatives, Individual and group projects
  • Coordinate the planning, scheduling, and facilitation of Emmaus Enrichment activities twice a week.
  • Collaborate with development office and program staff to identify volunteer needs and assist with special projects, fundraisers and other events
  • Provide ongoing support and recognition to volunteers; write thank you notes as needed
  • Write letters of recommendation for high school volunteers and others when requested
  • Help maintain volunteer records, service hours, contact information etc. in DonorPerfect
  • Assist in planning volunteer appreciation and recognition events
  • Prepare reports on volunteer participation and impact
  • Maintain confidentiality, follow HIPAA rules and safety requirements.
  • Ensure all activities promote the dignity, respect, and inclusion of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
