This position works alongside the Volunteer Coordinator to support and grow a volunteer program of nearly 100 active volunteers at The Outdoor Campus-Sioux Falls. This is a hands-on internship with a mix of working with people, supporting outdoor programs, and helping keep things moving behind the scenes. The position also provides opportunities to assist education staff with outdoor skills programming, including fishing, camping, hunting, and other hands-on outdoor activities. Interns should be prepared to spend plenty of time outside and be comfortable performing physical work in a variety of weather conditions. We are looking for someone who is dependable, responsible, self-motivated, and eager to take initiative. The ideal candidate doesn't wait around to be told what to do, they see what needs to be done and jump in. They should enjoy working with people of all ages, be comfortable interacting with the public, and have a genuine interest in the outdoors. Flexibility, a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are important. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is ready to learn, work hard, have some fun, and make a meaningful contribution to our volunteer program and the Outdoor Campus. Training is provided.
