About The Position

The Volunteer and Community Partnerships Coordinator is responsible for implementing and coordinating volunteer engagement across the agency and developing community host site partnerships in support of programs including Senior Aide and Mercy Centre. This role requires a proactive, self-directed approach to building volunteer opportunities and community relationships. The position manages the day-to-day coordination of the volunteer lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, documentation, and retention, and serves as the primary point of contact for volunteers and volunteer-related issues. In addition, the role builds and maintains relationships with community organizations to secure host sites, guiding partnerships from initial outreach through agreement and supporting successful placements in collaboration with program staff. This is a highly field-based role, with most of the time spent traveling, engaging in the community, and representing the agency externally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, nonprofit management, business, communication, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community outreach, volunteer coordination, workforce development, or partnership building preferred
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or community organizations strongly preferred
  • Experience in nonprofit or human services settings preferred
  • Experience with data tracking, reporting, or CRM/database systems preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with diverse audiences
  • Ability to successfully “sell” program value and build buy-in from community partners
  • Confidence conducting outreach, including cold calling and in-person engagement
  • Ability to build a strong community presence through networking and relationship development
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through
  • Strong record-keeping and documentation practices
  • Ability to manage time, travel, and priorities independently in a field-based role
  • Ability to manage sensitive or urgent situations with professionalism and sound judgment

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move for extended periods throughout the day
  • Ability to carry materials up to 20 pounds occasionally

  • Walking and climbing are required for entry and mobility throughout most Catholic Charities Worcester County offices.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit volunteers through outreach, community engagement, and partnership development
  • Proactively identify, initiate, and advance volunteer engagement opportunities with minimal direction, seeking guidance and approvals as appropriate
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute volunteer events and engagement opportunities that support program goals, including initiating outreach, organizing logistics, and driving activities from concept through completion
  • Conduct volunteer orientations and manage onboarding processes
  • Collect required volunteer pre-screening documentation, including CORI authorization forms, and coordinate submission to HR in accordance with agency policies and procedures
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all volunteers
  • Maintain ongoing communication and implement strategies to support volunteer retention
  • Track, verify, and certify volunteer hours; prepare required documentation including DTA letters
  • Maintain accurate, compliant, and organized volunteer records and files
  • Respond to and manage issues occurring at volunteer sites, including incidents such as injuries, and document appropriately
  • Identify, research, and solicit new host site opportunities through cold calling, networking, and in-person outreach
  • Actively represent the agency in the community and build a strong network of organizational partners
  • Communicate program goals, participant capabilities, and mutual benefits to prospective host sites
  • Build and maintain ongoing relationships with host sites to support long-term engagement and satisfaction
  • Provide guidance to host sites regarding expectations, roles, and successful integration of program participants
  • Facilitate development of agreements, contracts, or MOUs with host sites in coordination with and subject to approval by leadership
  • Ensure all required placement details are finalized prior to handoff to program administrators
  • Coordinate transition of host site information to Senior Aide and Mercy Centre staff for client placement
  • Maintain regular communication with program staff regarding site performance, concerns, and opportunities for improvement
  • Track outreach efforts, partnerships, and outcomes to inform program staff and leadership
  • Prepare reports on volunteer engagement, host site development, and outreach efforts as needed
  • Ensure all documentation and processes meet agency standards and applicable requirements
  • Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a culture of safety through awareness, reporting, and safe work practices
  • Perform other related duties as requested
